We took a long weekend trip to Glen Rose, Texas and some surrounding sights. We stayed at the Paluxy River Bed Cabins, a great little B&B that we highly recommend.
The first day we made a run over to Dublin, Texas - the famous home of “Dublin Dr Pepper”. This is one of the few soda pops still made with sugar rather than corn syrup. The difference is subtle, but I must say that it is better. The pictures include some of the vintage equipment used there. They will still periodically actually bottle at this plant in the old bottles. Later that evening, after a tour of downtown Glen Rose including the Somerville County Courthouse, we ate some great BBQ at Hammonds.
The next day we had a run through the Fossil Rim Wildlife Park. This is a drive through park where you can feed the animals from your car. Some of the animals were a little too friendly, but we made it through. After that, we headed back towards home and stopped and walked around in downtown Granbury for a little while. We saw the Hood County Courthouse and saw a cool old hotel. (Named for the original owners - not the guests.)
