We took a little trip with family down to the Texas coast to try some surf fishing and have a little fireworks show. After hearing how wonderful the Brazoria County Beach - just outside the village of Surfside Beach - was, we thought this would be a great experience for the Wife Human. (Wife Human is just starting to get into fishing.) Well, let us say for now that it could have been worse. Maybe.
The beach was absolutely covered in seaweed. (Not the beautiful beach described.) The fishing was almost non-existent as the lines kept getting pulled in by the onslaught of seaweed. (Not the constant thrill described.) After dark, we had to somewhat rush through the fireworks due to the swarms of mosquitoes. We had reservations in nearby Clute at a hotel, so we left after the fireworks. The others had planned to camp on the beach. A midnight squall later and subsequent non-stop rain later, we all decided to head back home a day early. We learned some things from this trip, such as: “Eau de Off” is a wonderful perfume and Clute is the home of the “Great Texas Mosquito Festival.” :)
After returning early from this adventure, we decided to have a cookout at the lake. Now that was a pleasant time. The one bad part being that Brother Human decided to bring bait back from the coast. Let’s just say that two day old non-refrigerated squid can be a little ripe.
Most of these pictures are from the cookout and show a preference for landscape photos.
